Mobile app, next-gen postcard entries create buzz on Talent Zoo

Oceanside, CA, USA | 13 January 2010 - Jeff Cotrupe, an invited contributor on Talent Zoo’s New Media Edge blog, opened 2010 with a two-part entry there headlined Keep Those Apps and Postcards Coming. Part one, entitled THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT YOU, breaks new ground with a discussion of where all of those precious little mobile apps everyone is cooing over actually come from: Service delivery platforms (SDPs). SDPs emanate from a diversity of sources, including what the piece terms “big SDP arms merchants” such as Qualcomm and IBM but also from smaller-yet-mighty players such as Appiction and ScrollMotion. It is the latter group that might just bring out the mobile app-maker in you. Part two, POSTCARDS FROM THE (NEW MEDIA) EDGE, describes the freshest digital and physical postcard offerings that let you flash news about the great times you’re having across the Internet or around the globe. Notable among them is Hippopost, the brainchild of former Research In Motion execs [think: Blackberry], that lets users create custom physical postcards with their own photos, whereupon Hippopost mails them free of charge…with just one catch that makes Hippopost different from the others in this space.

Cotrupe’s next Talent Zoo New Media Edge entry, Mobile Advertising Is On the Move, is slated to appear later in January. It spotlights the growing synergies between telecommunications, marketing and interactive and how companies such as Microsoft, Verizon and Transverse are creating new ways for marketers and users to communicate (profitably) with each other.
